Hello, my friends,
I realize that today marks five days since the 25th anniversary of 9-11. However, today, I still have 9-11 on my mind. As I previously stated, September is National Suicide Prevention Month; I have been thinking and praying today about those tragically unfortunate people who were trapped at the top of the Trade Center buildings, who, when the fires were closing in and all hope for safe passage down the stairs and rescue was gone, had to make the unimaginable decision to stay put and burn to death, or willingly jump over 100 stories to their death. The more I dwell on this, the more disturbed and unsettled I become, both in my soul and my body. No matter how hard I try, I cannot imagine being in that situation with only seconds to make a decision—a decision to willingly commit an unspeakable act of suicide that I did not want to commit. I cannot imagine in a lifetime the undeserved fear and pain they were feeling.
Unfortunately, it appears that America is not going in the right direction. 25 years on, we are certainly a much more divided, angry country, and still under serious attack, both at home and abroad. Suicide rates have increased drastically, affecting all age groups, even children. Turning these stats around is a seriously tall order, but we have to try. We have to turn the mental health problems in our country around if we are to go on and thrive as a nation.
I am a musician, so I communicate best in song. In January of 2026, I, along with Ross Vannelli, Kathy Mullen, and Chris Blackwell, released an album of original songs to help, heal, and deliver strength and hope in difficult times. The album is called ‘Live Like There’s No Tomorrow,’ and our first single and music video we released, which is so very poignant at this time, is called ‘We Go On.’ I want to encourage you to listen and watch, and, if it moves you, please share it. We all need the help, hope, and courage to go on.
Live Like There's No Tomorrow,
Jeff Pike
