Miracles can happen at a stoplight....

Jeff and I ate lunch at a nearby restaurant, waiting to check in our hotel room as he is performing the Abba Mania Tour. As we walked across the parking lot leaving the restaurant, we saw a man playing guitar in the street for tips at the stoplight.

As we got into the truck, I pulled a $20 bill out of my purse, folded it, holding it in my hand.

We timed the light just right as we were right next to the gentleman and his guitar; the light turned red. I rolled down the window and handed the folded-up bill. His eyes light up when he saw it was $20!

He asked if he could play us a song and our course we obliged! "Is Nirvana ok?" Sure! He sang to us, and when he finished, I had pulled out one of The Dash poem cards with my son's name, birth date, and death date across the top, my constant reminder of Eric and to live life each day to the fullest. As I handed him the card, I quickly shared my son had taken his life, and I wanted him to hold on to the card and keep that poem for hope.

Right then, his eyes welled up, and he shared with us he had just gotten out of prison, had thought about suicide himself but was trying to do what he could to be there for his young daughter. I encouraged him to choose life.

By then, the light had turned green, yet we drove off, knowing that simple gesture had made a difference.

Random Acts of Kindness DO make a difference.
