We at Mullen's Miracles are excited for today, #GivingTuesday!! Yep, it is TODAY! So what is #GivingTuesday anyway? You see it roll around each year after Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and then onto #GivingTuesday.
GivingTuesday, often stylized as #GivingTuesday for hashtag activism, occurs the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It is touted as a "global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world."
That is an excellent reason to take action TODAY!!!
Mullen's Miracles is a nonprofit I started a little over a year ago. Our purpose is to support those in a suicide crisis, their loved ones supporting them, and those who lost a loved one to suicide.
I never thought I would be in this place, losing my only child, Eric, to suicide. But here I am, not thinking it would happen to our family; I wasn't prepared to help effectively. The medical staff wasn't able to offer much support. Most of all, you never are prepared for suicide to come knocking on your door.
Mullen's Miracles has been born out of a deep love for my son, to figure out the 'gaps' in mental health support that others have experienced; creating educational programs to fill those gaps BEFORE suicide takes the life of a loved one.
We are building a community of support.
